WHO WE ARE

St. Andrews of Tampa Bay

The St. Andrew’s Society of Tampa Bay, founded in 1976, is about celebrating everything Scottish! As one of about 70 St. Andrew’s Societies in the US, we are a diverse group of people who preserve the unique heritage and honor traditions of Scotland. The history, music, food & drink, dress, and customs of Scotland are alive and well within our proud group. We strive to be good stewards of our community by providing support while promoting a warm and welcoming Scottish culture.

Chapter History

The History of St. Andrew’s of Tampa Bay, Inc.
By William C. McLean, Jr.

Interest in our Scottish heritage began to blossom in January of 1969, when several people organized the Bay Area Pipes and Drums. It was organized as a non-profit Scottish Bagpipe Band, military in structure and dedicated to promoting Scottish music and culture throughout the Tampa Bay area. We incorporated the band and changed its name to the Tampa Pipe Band.
